Mom was always talking about having a nice English breakfast that served ham or bacon. Previously you would only get this at places where there was a high density of expats living in the area or high density urban upper class neighbourhoods like Desa Sri Hartamas, Mont Kiara or Damansara Heights. Taman Desa has been known to be the quiet Beverly Hills of long ago but since the introduction of all these other high rise developments, Taman Desa has been out of the limelight. However, in recent years there has been a maturity in the state of financial well being in Taman Desa. No its not the Hamptons of the east, but maybe everyone's safe deposits, insurance endowment plans all finally matured. There is one rumour that alot of auditors, accountants and remisiers live in Taman Desa. But this isn't a Blog about urban development and financial news.
The breakfast menu says it starts at 8.30am on Sunday. The top 3 big ticket Items are the Big Breakfast, Light and Easy and one more that I forgot. I will update this after my next visit. The Big Breakfast set priced at RM28 (No GST or Service Charge yet, So make sure you leave a tip) comes with a small glass of very fresh orange juice, a choice of coffee or tea, Fruit Yoghurt. The main plate comes with a Hungarian Sausage, Fried mushrooms, Tomato Salsa, Cucumber thingy, choice of poached, scrambled or sunny side up eggs. The Baked beans, that is the highlight of this dish, for me at least. Now in the menu it says it comes with streaky Bacon but asu can see its back bacon. This was pointed out by my Head Chef at home Mama Angela. Up to the point that she mentioned it I was completely satisfied with the breakfast. after she pointed out the discrepancies about the bacon all I could think was to come back again and ask for streaky bacon...yum yum.
Oh yes the set also comes with a slice of some funky soft bread (Foccacia & Ciabatta) and a little bowl of garlic butter!!
My Mom chose the light and easy breakfast which has 2 poached eggs, 2 slices of bacon ham more funky bread and the cucumber thingy I am still not sure what is it. It does however taste very refreshing. This was priced at RM18 if I am not mistaken.
As my mom said her plate was less colourful than mine, It didn't help that this is also a blurry picture. The taste though is really as it says light and easy.
We both asked to look at the main menu which seemed somewhat dilapidated but the prices remained the same. No Plus-plus and a whole lotta pork! yes its a non-halal joint. 3 things that stood out for me when I looked at the menu. Porkchop with gorgonzola sauce, Warm Rocket Salad and Pear baked in wine. Yes please stop drooling now I know it sounds delectable. Head on down there and try the pizzas from their wood fire oven. It looks cool although its placed in a not so camera friendly place.
The staff is abit young, not as highly trained but they are still quite polite. Although we were the only ones here at the time. This place has really horrible parking habits by the people who go there so remember to go there early to find a nice parking spot that is safe and free of idiots parking there. Also, the parking bays are a little narrow so it will also be a test of skill. Hope you all enjoyed this little snippet of information if you like you could leave a message and tell me you experience with Casa Del Cocco.
