Restoran Ah Loy @ OUG : A food court in a shop!

I had a late dinner today and I completely needed to tell you all about this place. Its a very unassuming storefront that has the kitchen out in front where you can smell the marmite pai kuat( Pork spare ribs fried in marmite), Asam Laksa , Ham Tan Taufu ( Salted Egg fried with bean curd/tofu ) and watch the steam fish being carried out of the big steamer sitting on the gas stove.

Restoran Ah Loy (Air-cond) Best sign ever!
I love the fact that one can get still great local Chinese food that you would only usually get during breakfast.
Its like having one of those huge food court centres in one shop. So you can bet the quality control is a lot better. This place has really great friendly staffs that aren't too cocky or proud which my mom likes because there have been many times where we did not go back to that one shop that was rude to her.

A little history about Restoran Ah Loy, according to the Chinese lady that took my order, the place has been opened for about 50 years! A relative of hers opened and now she is the 2nd generation to run the business.
Of course this is what I gathered speaking with my broken Cantonese until cannot make it fail dot com.

And this is where the illiteracy  of the Chinese Language really shows. THE MENU!
The RM6 Menu! :P
The cryptic menu that I would need to decipher to access the treasures of OUG!
This is my only reason to go and learn Mandarin so that I can read this!

Now to the good bit more food photos! But before that a word of caution. Those with heart related problems should stop reading now.........................................................Ok if you are still reading this stop................................................................Seriously?! Ok, I know i would do the same hehehehe

I ordered from the menu that had some of it dishes written in English which was the Siew Yoke Curry Kuey Teow ( Roasted Pork in Curry Flat rice Noodles ). My mom ordered the Pai Kuat Curry Kuey Teow ( Pork spare ribs in  Curry Flat rice Noodles. Don't laugh at the menu, Its hard to even find places that have a menu in a hawker stall.

The curry is not too thick, there is the usual pork skin that is cooked til its soft not chewy, the Tofu pok, bean sprouts, cockles, and roasted pork that is not salty. There is a pork ribs variation of the noodles and you can even order a side of pork ribs to go along with your dish. We also had steamed romain ( Yau Mak) vegetables that also came out of the big steamer where the fish came out of as well hihih.
